to be true

Choreographed and danced by Madelyn Sher

Performed live at CREST at Chilo's Greenwood (curated by ChristinaNoel and the Creature)

Film version shot by Jefferson White, at Center for Performance Research

Inspired by French cinema, a blond wig, and the mythology of wild women, this piece explores the multiplicity that lies underneath the title of womanhood. Feeling shy and feeling overwhelm, feeling feelings inexplicable but poignant and painful. This solo fuses elements of Butoh, contemporary dance, and theatre.
