I love you I miss my friend and the music is beautiful
Exploring the idea of retrospective love, I created this character-driven piece which dances through a combination of very distinct forms: contemporary dance, Butoh, and theater. Here I examine nostalgia through the eyes of a character who, practically bursting with love, cannot keep her heart hidden from that which she adores: a memory. While at first this is an embarrassing prospect, she learns to accept this feeling and releases herself from judgement of her love. Eventually, recognizing her loss, she must learn that to love is to lose; in order to preserve the glowing memory of her love, she must also cherish the tragedy of having lost it.
