zephyr is a piece about journey and disintegration. The generating process included discussions about long, scenic train rides, memories revisited, and the decay of the body caused by illness. Inspired by the California zephyr, a passenger train that delivers passengers from San Fransisco to Chicago, "zephyr" looks at trains as metaphors for one's personal journey through time. This includes departures from the past; the constant, circular rhythm of history; the arrival at a destination; and the subsequent decay of the journey itself.

This project was developed in April and May 2018 as a site-specific project in the warehouse occupied by the Triple 9 festival, a new interdisciplinary arts festival that offers pay-what-you-can space to participating artists. For the first iteration of zephyr, presented on May 20 + 21, the piece was (almost entirely) viewed by an audience that watched from outside of a room as performers lived out the stories and memories of their characters within this contained space. I then adapted zephyr for the stage on June 10th at WaxWorks, a movement-based artist showcase held at Triskelion Arts in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
